Recipe For Hash Brownies.

Hash Brownies
  • 4oz (115g) Cannabis Butter
  • 2oz (60g) Self Raising Flour
  • 8oz (225g) Soft Brown Sugar
  • 1.5oz (45g) Cocoa Powder (NOT Drinking Chocolate Powder)
  • 1oz (30g) Ground Almonds
  • 2 Eggs
  • Grated Rind Of One Large Orange (Important!)
  • 1/2tsp Baking Powder
Chocolate Butter Icing/Frosting
Making icing for a cake really isn’t an exact science – it’s difficult to give amounts as you may have a different sized baking tray meaning more or less brownies, or you may just have a different personal preference. The following amounts are a guideline so feel free to tweak as you wish!
  • 4oz (115g) NORMAL Butter or Margarine
  • 1 – 2oz (30 – 60g) Cocoa Powder
  • 8 – 10oz (225 – 285g) Icing (Powdered/Confectioners) Sugar
  • 2tsp Water, as needed
  • Maltesers (optional, but totally worth it)

Equipment

  • Kitchen Scales
  • Sieve
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon
  • Shallow baking tray
  • Greaseproof paper / Wax paper

Method – Hash Brownie Base

  1. First, sieve the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the ground almonds, sugar and orange rind and mix together well.
  3. Next, add the butter and eggs and beat the mixture together until smooth.
  4. Bake at 150ÂșC (300F or Gas Mark 2), in a shallow dish, greased and lined with greaseproof (wax) paper for 50 – 55 minutes.

Method – Chocolate Butter Icing/Frosting

  1. Just mix together the ingredients in a bowl and spread over the top of the brownie.
  2. As an optional tasty extra, smash up a couple of packets of Maltesers and sprinkle them over the top. Do this straight away so they will stick in the icing rather than just fall off when you try and take a bite!
  3. Cut into at least 16 pieces and serve! If it’s your first time cooking with cannabis, be sensible and don’t have more than one or two in the space of an hour, no matter how absolutely fantastic they taste.

Medical-marijuana skin patch may be marketed in Colorado.

Michigan's two-year-old law allowing the use of marijuana for medical purposes is leaving communities, courts, patients and police locked in disputes over what is legal and what isn't.
Medical Marijuana Delivery Systems said Tuesday it has acquired the U.S. patent rights to a medical-marijuana skin patch and seeks to sell it in Colorado. The patent provides Seattle-based MMDS with exclusive rights for development of the patch for trans cut aneous delivery of medical marijuana to humans and animals.
The patch will be marketed under the trademark Tetracan and is expected to be available at medical-marijuana dispensaries across the United States by year's end.
MMDS said the patch can be used for treatment of arthritis pain, the side-effects of chemotherapy, multiple sclerosis and other chronic conditions. The company said it is in discussions with the Medicine Wheel Project for the distribution of Tetracan and potential future products in the medical-marijuana states of Colorado and California.

Study Says Ecstacy Does Not Cause Long Lasting Damage.

A recently published study has claimed that the drug ecstasy does not cause irreversible brain damage.
The study, which was carried out by American researchers at Harvard Medical School, said that most previous studies into the drug had made early conclusions despite insufficient evidence to actually suggest that its effects are long-lasting and detrimental.
Anti-drug campaigners have long argued that ecstasy can trigger memory loss, long term emotional effects and can reduce cognitive performance. The news is likely to shock such groups, however those that have stood firm that the drug is fairly safe have welcomed the new report with open arms.
Former chairman of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, Alan Johnson, said that he had always suspected that when proper studies were carried out that no evidence to support that ecstasy has brain-damaging effects would surface. Johnson had lost his position as chairman when he said in public that he believed ecstasy to be less harmful than alcohol and tobacco.
The US government-backed study had been designed specifically to avoid the issues that had led to inconclusive studies in years past. The government granted some $1.8 million in the effort and the results were published this week the Addiction medical journal.

Naive drug dealer had cannabis plant on window sill.

A drug dealer was caught with a cannabis plant two months after being arrested, a court has been told.
Police arrested Anthony Shore, of Downs View, Bude, last August when they went to his flat to investigate a complaint of loud music and found drugs.
When officers returned in October, the 27-year-old had a cannabis plant growing on his window sill.
Truro Crown Court Recorder Michael Hubbard QC sentenced Shore to nine months in jail, suspended for a year.
Prosecutor Iain Leadbetter told the court when Shore was first arrested, he admitted he had been dealing drugs for two months "just to keep the money coming in".
Officers took possession of £1,140 in cash and 126.6g of cannabis with a street value of about £715.
When police returned to Shore's property on 29 October they found one cannabis plant growing on his window sill and 5.6g of the drug.
Shore admitted possession and possession with intent to supply.
Defending, Christopher Nicholls said Shore had now disassociated himself from former dealers and his parents had paid off about £2,000 he owed them.
"He was naive as to the seriousness of his criminality," Mr Nicholls said.
Sentencing Shore, the recorder told him: "You are so close to going straight to jail."
In addition to the suspended sentence with supervision, Shore was also given 40 hours of unpaid community work.
The recorder ordered the confiscation of the cash and the destruction of the drugs.

Scotland exports more cannabis than it imports as Triad farms grow

SCOTLAND has become an exporter of cannabis as Triad gangsters launch ever more factories.
Secret court papers show there are now greater quantities of the drug leaving the country than coming in.
Traditionally, most hash bought here has come from countries such as Holland and Jamaica.
But the shock revelation came to light in legal documents relating to a Proceeds of Crime case against a convicted thug suspected of being a Triad gang member.
In the papers against William Wan, a Government lawyer claims: "It is now well recognised that cannabis is produced in many unlawful factories situated throughout the Central Belt of Scotland and elsewhere.
"The illegal cultivation of cannabis in Scotland is immensely profitable.
"Cannabis cultivation in Scotland is now established to the extent that Scotland is believed to be a net exporter of the drug to other parts of the UK and beyond."
Sheriff Michael Fletcher granted the Crown permission to hold on to money - £1641 and 1000 Hong Kong dollars - found in a car belonging to Wan and his wife Mo Qi.
Lawyers for the Scottish Government claimed the couple were members of the 14K Triad gang.
Wan, who is serving two years for assault to injury and permanent impairment, said he and his wife had low-paid jobs in a takeaway restaurant.
The action stated: "He is believed to be a member of the 14K Triad.
"It is believed they acquired property in Motherwell and serviced the mortgage payments through their involvement in organised criminality and through cannabis cultivation and supply."
Cannabis farms in Scotland have flourished. Police busted just 16 sites in 2006 but 89 in 2009 and 48 last year.
Figures from the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency show police have seized £41million worth of cannabis plants since 2006 and arrested 319 people.
Cannabis trial expert witness and former policeman Allen Morgan said: "It is cheaper for the gang bosses to rent commercial or private property in Glasgow or Edinburgh than it is to try and do the same in central London."
Chief Superintendent David O'Connor, president of the Association of Scottish Police Superintendents, said: "The fact that Scotland is now a net exporter of cannabis is an extremely worrying development.
"Cannabis farms are not a wholly urban phenomenon and we are seeing more of them in rural areas. These organised crime groups think globally and policing is now a national and an international matter."
According to Interpol, the biggest cannabis exporters include Nigeria, South Africa, Canada, Colombia, Jamaica, Mexico, India, Thailand, Morocco and Afghanistan.
A Chinese dope farmer was caught after his flat was flooded.
Firefighters who broke down the door to discover the source of the leak were stunned to discover £51,000 worth of dope plants.
Man Cheung, 47, of Maryhill, Glasgow, admitted running the farm in Spruce Road, Cumbernauld, near Glasgow, in May 2009.
Cheung was jailed for two years at Airdrie Sheriff Court last week.
Cops find crops worth £41m
Police have busted more than 300 cannabis farms in Scotland in the last five years - seizing 138,453 plants worth approximately £41,535,900 on the streets.
More than half of the farms were in Strathclyde, where 188 farms were uncovered since 2006. In Lothian, police destroyed 54 farms during the same period. The figure was 19 in Grampian and 14 in Tayside.
The biggest factory spanned three floors in a quiet street in Ayr and had more than 3000 high-grade plants.

Cannabis May Eliminate Opiod Dependance

Injections of THC eliminate dependence on opiates in stressed rats, according to a research team at the Laboratory for Physiopathology of Diseases of the Central Nervous System (France) in the journal Neuropsychopharmacology. Deprived of their mothers at birth, rats become hypersensitive to the rewarding effect of morphine and heroin (substances belonging to the opiate family), and rapidly become dependent. When these rats were administered THC, they no longer developed typical morphine-dependent behavior. In the striatum a region of the brain involved in drug dependence, the production of endogenous enkephalins was restored under THC, whereas it diminished in rats stressed from birth which had not received THC. Researchers believe the findings could lead to therapeutic alternatives to existing substitution treatments.

Cannabis May Help Brain Cancer

A study by University of Madrid found the chemicals in marijuana promotes the death of brain cancer cells by essentially helping them feed upon themselves in a process called autophagy The research team discovered that cannabinoids such as THC had anticancer effects in mice with human brain cancer cells and in people with brain tumors. When mice with the human brain cancer cells received the THC, the tumor shrank. Using electron microscopes to analyze brain tissue taken both before and after a 26- to 30-day THC treatment regimen, the researchers found that THC eliminated cancer cells while leaving healthy cells intact. The patients did not have any toxic effects from the treatment; previous studies of THC for the treatment of cancer have also found the therapy to be well tolerated. However, the mechanisms which promote THC's tumor cell–killing action are unknown.

Cannabis May Prevent Lung Cancer.

One of the surprising research results from the last decade has been the finding that smoking cannabis does not increase the risk of developing lung cancer or (COPD) among people who do not smoke tobacco, and may indeed confer a mildly protective effect. Beginning in 2001, multiple research teams began to report results showing that smoking cannabis does not, by itself, increase the risk of lung cancer, and this result is now well-established. Many studies did report a strongly synergistic effect, however, between tobacco use and smoking cannabis such that tobacco smokers who also smoked cannabis dramatically increased their already very high risk of developing lung cancer or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by as much as 300%.

Cannabis may prevent Alzheimer's.

Research done by the Scripps Research Institute in California shows that the active ingredient in marijuana, THC, prevents the formation of deposits in the brain associated with Alzheimer's Disease. THC was found to prevent an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase from accelerating the formation of "Alzheimer plaques" in the brain more effectively than commercially marketed drugs. THC is also more effective at blocking clumps of protein that can inhibit memory and cognition in Alzheimer’s patients, as reported in Molecular Pharmaceutics.

Cannabis Reduces Symptoms Of MS.

The claims by medical users that cannabis reduces the symptoms of MS has been confirmed by UK government trials. The study, of more than 600 patients, published in the Lancet medical journal, also provided some evidence that they boosted mobility.
Other physical proof of the drugs effects on symptoms did not emerge however. Slightly more patients on the cannabis extract reported benefits than those on THC, an active compound found in cannabis.

MS sufferers have been claiming these beneficial effects for years, many sufferers break the law buying illegal cannabis and self-help groups such as THC4MS have been supplying sufferers, but they run the risk of arrest and many medical users have been dragged through the courts.
This study shows that cannabis really does make these ill people feel better, these claims cannot be ignored any longer.

Tourists May Be Banned From Buying Cannabis

DUTCH lawmakers are considering new legislation that would ban foreign travellers from buying cannabis in cafes.
New laws would see the world-famous "coffee shops" - which lawfully sell small amounts of cannabis to customers - turned into private clubs open only to locals.
Only those with a "wietpassen," or "weed pass," would be allowed to purchase the drugs and those with foreign passports would be barred from entry.
The owners of the coffee shops were fighting the bill, which they said would cost millions of tourist dollars.
"If this law comes into effect, we will lose money and jobs," said Marc Josemans, owner of the Easy Going cafe.
Last year, 1.4 million "drugs tourists" visited the city of Maastricht alone. Foreigners accounted for 70 percent or sales, worth about £8.5 million ($13.6 million).
But lawmaker said the drugs tourists attract criminals. Joep Delsing, spokesman for the mayor of Maastricht, said: "They block streets in the city center, they don't respect parking rules, they are noisy and, when they go from one coffee shop to another, they urinate and vomit in the street."

Arrests in Grimsby after 1,000 cannabis plants found

Four men have been arrested after police uncovered 1,000 cannabis plants during a raid in Grimsby. Police searched the property in Stallingbrough Road on Monday after acting on information from local residents.
Police estimated the street value of the drugs to be about £2m, making it "one of the biggest cannabis factories found in the area".
Four men aged between 21 and 49 have been arrested and remain in custody.
